Re:Latest quarters/New penny Date Posted:09/18/2009 03:25:17Copy HTML I've been trying to find rolls of new pennies as well. Laurel has one of those penny squasher machines at Afton Station and the new, shiny pennies work best. However, every bank I've gone to says they can't even order them. Ron |

Re:Latest quarters/New penny Date Posted:09/20/2009 05:52:38Copy HTML Third in the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One Cent Program, the “Professional Life” design is now available in two-roll sets. The reverse design depicts Abraham Lincoln as a young professional standing in front of the old state capitol building in Springfield, Ill. It includes the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and ONE CENT, and was designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart. This set is comprised of 100 coins -- one roll of 50 coins minted at the United States Mint at Philadelphia (no mint mark) and one roll of 50 coins minted at the United States Mint at Denver (“D” mint mark). Each coin roll is wrapped with special United States Mint coin paper depicting the new designs, a “P” or “D” representing the roll’s mint of origin and “50¢,” representing its face value. These rolls contain one-cent coins used in regular commercial transactions. However, because these coins have never been circulated, they also make a great addition to your private collection or a wonderful gift for someone special. These historic coins are available for a limited time only. Go to the U.S. Mint site. If you drill down from "Shop Online" and then on the left (Bags & Rolls) you'll find the third of the four 2009 Lincoln uncirculated pennies for sale. (The last on will be released in Nov., I think) They are priced at two rolls for $8.95 and it says they will be shipped after 9/25. Kinda expensive for $1 worth of pennies! |
