Well it has been an interesting month .. June that is.. a pair of crows made a nest in our neighbor's tall Hemlock tree which towers above our deck... although we could not see the nest we knew it was there by the sounds they made and where they disappeared into the boughs to feed their young..
Lately it seemed as if they would soon fly away.. the parents were in our nearby tall Maple encouraging their young to fly away... which they finally did by hanging out in our maple for quite awhile... my hubby thought that one did not make it as it seemed to fall to the ground... I could hear it too and finally spotted the poor thing trapped inside our neighbors trampoline.. the parents cawed to it but it was unable to fly out.. finally my hubby went to the rescue and lifted it out where it glided to the ground on our property.. he was afraid a cat or other animal would get it so he carried it to a small tree in our backyard.. the parents hung around but it spent the night in our tree..(Wednesday)... by Thursday it fell back to the ground so hubby placed it on our bird feeding tray with food and water to help.. research was done of course... It was still there last night but I heard a lot of crow noise very early today/ Friday morning and when we looked the crow was gone... no feathers or body so we are hoping that he joined his family
A good ending and a funny way to spend our retirement days:-)
